Mimi recommends...Them Terribles

Having been compared with The Hives, The Strokes, Richard Hell, The Animals and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Them Terribles have modernized and intensified the rock revolution of your mom's rebellious teenage days. Frontman Matt Green's vocals are as unique as the way he first got into music: he was adopted from New Jersey to Los Angeles into a house right next door to a member of The Eagles, who gave him a drum kit. Later on Matt ditched drums and turned to guitar and piano after moving in to Santa Barbara, where he met his future band members guitarist Jonny Black and drummer Joey Benenati. After changing their lineup and name a couple of time, they reached their current form as Them Terribles (the name was a spoof of "The Tearaways", which is the name of the drummer, Joey Benenati's, father's band) in 2008.

Members:
Matt Green - Vocals
Marcus Vaughn Affeldt - Guitar
Jimmy Marvitch - Bass
Joey Benenati - Drums

Former members:
Jonny Black - Guitar
Hunter Black - Guitar
Mikee Hudson - Bass
Geoff Franklin - Bass

Mimi recommends...Freelance Whales

What do you get, when you combine Israeli frontman and his childhood memories with four other musician playing instruments from guitars, mandolins and banjos all the way to harmoniums, synthesizers and glockenspiels? You get one exeptional indie rock band hailing from Queens, New York called Freelance Whales.
They came together in late 2008 connecting with each other through Craiglist and friends-of-friends. They self-released their debut album, Weathervanes, in October 2009 after gaining attention and hype after performing on subway platforms all around New York. Their sound have been compared to likes of Postal Service and Sufjan Stevens. They began their journey to the top of the world in 2010 by starting to tour nationally and releasing Weathervanes in U.K. They have been called as ”the band to watch this year”.

I will learn to fly before I learn to give up.

So I've had a pretty rough weekend. Been feeling down and sad. I remember that I used to have this same feeling in teenage, when I felt like the world is out to get me. But you know what, harder it tries to make me brake down, harder I will fight back. I will survive.

So bring it on. Rain can't hurt me. And I'm waiting for the good days to come.

Pain that never really heals.

I lost my mom years ago. And last night, on the day of my grandfathers' funeral, my grandmom followed her husband. I will always love them and this pain is something I don't want anyone to go through. But there is one song that reminds me, that you can't give up.

Love at first beat

Went to see Step Up 3D last night with my friend. I don't think there is anything as beautiful as dance...especially when it's done by people how really know what they're doing. I've always been a sucker for robot dance, and las night I fell in love with Madd Chadd Smith. I haven't stop shaking after this. ENJOY!
